Onsite oil treatment on live transformers
Transformer oil treatment
We treat transformer oil on site, on energized transformers, removing moisture, dissolved gases, and solid particles without taking the asset out of service. Over years of operation these contaminants build up and pull the oil's dielectric strength down; we dry, degas, and filter the oil back to specification while the transformer stays energized.
What we do
Transformer oil collects moisture from the air and the insulation, dissolved gases from normal operation, and particles from wear and ageing. Together they lower dielectric strength and accelerate insulation degradation. Unlike chemical ageing, this is contamination — and it can be reversed by drying, degassing, and filtration.
We bring an Ekofluid FILOIL treatment plant to your site and run the oil through vacuum dehydration, degassing, and fine filtration in a single pass. The work is done on the energized transformer, so there is no outage, no oil transported off-site, and no interruption to supply. For critical assets where downtime is measured in lost revenue, online treatment is the difference between a planned service and a forced one.
How it works
-
Test
We sample the oil and check moisture, dielectric strength, and particle levels to confirm treatment is the right action.
-
Mobilize
The FILOIL plant is delivered and connected to the energized transformer.
-
Treat
Oil circulates through vacuum drying, degassing, and filtration to 0,5 µm; contaminants are removed in a continuous pass.
-
Verify
The treated oil is re-tested and the improvement documented.
-
Complete
The transformer stays in service throughout; the oil is back to specification when the plant disconnects.
What you get
Oil brought back to specification, with the key parameters restored:
- Water content
- < 5 ppm
- Breakdown voltage
- restored to specification
- Dissolved gases
- removed
- Particles
- filtered to 0,5 µm
The transformer keeps running throughout, the oil's dielectric strength is restored, and you avoid both an outage and a premature oil change.
