Vacuum-assisted oil filling on site

Transformer oil filling

We fill transformers with oil on site under vacuum — full evacuation of the tank followed by vacuum-assisted filling, for new installations, retrofits, and oil exchanges. Filling under vacuum removes the trapped air and voids where partial discharge starts, so the transformer is ready to energize with its insulation properly wetted and gas-free.

What we do

Filling a transformer is not just pumping oil in. Air trapped in the windings and insulation leaves voids where partial discharge begins, and oil that has not been dried and degassed before filling carries moisture and gas straight into the active part. Both shorten insulation life from the first energization.

We evacuate the transformer tank to deep vacuum, then fill it with oil that has been dried and degassed in the same operation, so the insulation is properly impregnated and no air is trapped. The service covers new installations, retrofits, and oil exchanges where old oil is drained and the transformer refilled to specification. The work is done on site with our own plant and crew.

How it works

  1. Prepare

The transformer tank is checked and, for an oil exchange, the old oil is drained.

  2. Evacuate

The tank is pulled down to deep vacuum, drawing out air and moisture from the windings and insulation.

  3. Fill

Oil is dried and degassed and filled into the transformer under vacuum, so the insulation is impregnated without trapped air.

  4. Verify

Oil level, dielectric strength, and gas content are checked and documented.

  5. Complete

The transformer is left filled to specification, gas-free, and ready to energize.

What you get

A transformer filled to specification and ready to energize:

Filled under vacuum
no trapped air, no voids
Oil dried and degassed
in the same operation
Water content
< 5 ppm
Ready to energize
insulation properly impregnated

New installations, retrofits, and oil exchanges handled on site by our own crew, without shipping the transformer or its oil elsewhere.
